Is the AMD Phenom 2 good for gaming?
Splendid. For games that tend to cover a *very* wide range of audience, they usually deal (to this day) really well with Phenom II and Core 2 CPUs. If you try anything newer that is compiled to make good use of AVX, the Phenom II (and Core 2 as well) will drop the ball hard.

The 955 BE used a reference voltage of 1.32V whereas the 965 BE has upped this to 1.4V. This might seem like a small change but it does mean the CPU’s TDP has also risen from 125W to 140W.
Which is better AMD Phenom II or Intel Q9550?
Intel 32nm is going to… but that Q9550 can overclock well, to the level of the phenom II 965 here and beyond, and clock for clock it is faster than phenom II. Can’t wait for a AM3 vs LGA 1156 battle soon!
