Florida’s Early Learning and Developmental Standards is a comprehensive document containing age-appropriate information and reflections about how young children explore, create, and think. This document addresses five developmental domains.

Is VPK everyday?

We encourage you to contact the VPK provider of your choice to inquire about individual program details. VPK providers have flexibility in structuring the hours per day and days per week to meet the required instructional hours. A Provider could also choose to offer a 6 hour-per-day program for 90 days.

What is the Florida standard for kindergarten?

While full-day kindergarten is not a requirement in the state of Florida, districts that do offer this type of program are required to provide the same number of instructional hours as grades 1 to 3. Thus, school must offer a minimum of 720 hours per year for full-day programs, which comes out to around 4 to 5 hours per day.
