What is Aero port?
Aero ports let you retune your enclosure without needing to develop an entirely different box to achieve their desired outcomes. If you have different lengths, you can swap out the tuning on-demand. You won’t receive the same structural bracing in the enclosure with aeros as you would for a slot port.
Whats louder slot port or aero port?
Aero ports are much more susceptible to higher port air velocity than slot ports. But they are much easier to tune and install. Where as slot ports are less susceptible to air port velocity, add some more rigidness, but they’re harder to build and a bit more difficult to tune once you have made it.
What size aero port should I use?
Aero ports tend to be shorter since they are more efficient than a slot port. General concensus being slots are best at 12-16 in per cube and aeros at 8-12 per cube.
Which way should subwoofer port face?
For the best sound quality, the subwoofer should be placed with the speaker facing out to the room, and the port should be away from a wall. Bass waves travel in all directions, but it’s important to have the speaker facing your main listening area.
How do I know what size subwoofer port to use?
The port area is in square inches, meaning it takes height times width to calculate total area. A port 4 inches high by 4 inches wide would calculate as 4 x 4= 16 in2.
Where does the subwoofer box port go?
Best acoustic coupling is accomplished when the port(s) are installed on the same side as the woofer(s). If this is not possible, installing ports on the side or back of the enclosure are good alternatives. Do not block the opening of any port(s) and always position multiple ports on the same side of the enclosure.
What is a slot port box?
A slot port uses 3 sides of your enclosure as port walls. If the port is located at one end of the box, only one additional piece of wood is required to complete the port. The additional internal wall will have a space equal to the width of the port between its end and the back wall of the box.
How do I know what size port for my sub box?
The port area is in square inches, meaning it takes height times width to calculate total area. A port 4 inches high by 4 inches wide would calculate as 4 x 4= 16 in2. In our example box, we have an inside height of 14.5 inches. To calculate the slot width, divide 54.5 sq.
Why do Subs face backwards?
all subs do mostly is move air, if they are facing the rear seat there is less air space for the sound waves to travel through.
